"Something about an old-fashioned Christmas is hard to forget."
Hugh Downs
After many years of all white lights, this year, I wanted a retro Christmas look. The kind of decor that is like getting a big, warm hug from your childhood. Big multi-colored lights, vintage ornaments (especially those beautiful Shiny-Brites), popcorn garland...a look that is cheerful & fun. The whole family loved it so much, I don't think I'll ever go back to all white lights again. And you know what else? I have never gotten more compliments from neighbors and passers-by!
"When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things - not the great occasions - give off the greatest glow of happiness." ~Bob Hope
There is no ideal Christmas; only the one Christmas you decide to make as a reflection of your values, desires, affections, traditions. - Bill McKibben
This little chenille tabletop tree was used by my Grandma, Mom and Aunt while my Grandpa was serving in the Pacific during WWII. Because most of the men who cut the trees were overseas, real trees were rare and expensive. Many families chose to use tabletop trees instead.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

I just discovered your blog and LOVE it! I love the retro Christmas look, I have been doing a retro outdoor decor for the last few Christmases and it makes me smile every time I see it. Looking forward to perusing your blog.

Hi Susan! Thanks a lot for commenting! I'm so glad to know another retro Christmas lover! I love that your outside is all retro. That is on my agenda for next year. I saw a catalog from the late 50's full of Christmas decor and wished I could just call and buy it all up!
